I’m not ready…. This isn’t the right time.. Maybe next year…
So many of us are constantly putting off great opportunities that stand right in front of us, somehow convincing ourselves that “now” is not the time.
Yet we have the audacity to complain about how “we’re not where we want to be in our lives…”
So, if you don’t mind my asking, when exactly is the the right time?
We sit back and give one sorry excuse after another, waiting for that perfect moment we all hope will come one day, but never will – because guess what – that perfect moment doesn’t exist! And the sooner we can realize this, the sooner we can start to make things happen and get on our path.
Need some inspiration?
Why not look toward the tens of thousands of great leaders who have come before you, from the Steve Jobs to the Oprah Winfreys? Inspiration is not hard to find – in fact it is everywhere we turn.
After all… it’s not like we need to reinvent the wheel!
The only thing that sets them apart from you is that they did not let their fears and doubts paralyze them, nor did they waste energy worrying about whether or not they were making the right choice. They simply rolled up their sleeves, got in the damn trenches, hustled everyday and chased down their dreams; all while blazing a path for others to follow if so inspired.
And I’d be willing to bet that most of them had no idea what the hell they were doing or getting themselves into either.
Every one of us have aspirations to create something great in our lives; and the only gap between where we are today and where we want to be starts with the conscious choice to just get started, even if we are not feeling 100% ready.
And by the way… no one ever said it would be easy. Most likely you will get discouraged and doubt yourself along the way – that’s normal. But with time, you will get used to being comfortable with the uncomfortable. I still struggle with this everyday, as do many others.
You don’t need to be great to start, or frankly have any idea of how do it… but you do need to get started! The world is already full of people with broken dreams that have yet to be met, still all waiting for their perfect moment.
But it’s the people who start before they’re ready who are already changing the world.
